Skipton builds on home insurance success

Skipton Building Society, a leading provider of home insurance, has diversified and will now be providing other types of insurance in the UK.

The company will now offer car and motorcycle insurance, pet insurance and travel insurance policies to consumers.

Steve Aldous, general manager of Skipton, commented: Insurance is all about protecting the things we value and ensuring should something go wrong, we’re as well equipped as possible to deal with it.

That’s why we’ve expanded Skipton’s protection range to include motor, pet and travel insurance, so that our customers can feel safe in all areas of their life.

The motor insurance policy offers holders up to £50,000 legal expenses cover, a courtesy car during repairs and a 24-hour, 365-day-a-year claims helpline.

Key features of the pet insurance policy are cover up to £5,000, legal liability up to £1 million and a free veterinary helpline.

The building society's new travel insurance policy has up to £10 million medical treatment cover and £25,000 personal accident cover.

Skipton is the seventh largest UK building society, with 79 branches across the UK and assets of around £8.6 billion.
