Teenagers could cause damage to many UK homes this summer, some of which may not be covered by home insurance, according to an expert.
UK teens have caused £136 million of damage to their parents' homes, warns home insurance provider Zurich.
Almost half of teenagers in the UK have thrown a party and 43 per cent of these have resulted in domestic damage, with an average repair bill of £132, according to the company.
The company also states that some of the damage caused may not be covered by home insurance policies.
While most home insurance policies cover damage like broken windows, extra cover may be needed for other household mishaps, such as stained carpets and damage to furniture, the company claims.
Martin Hall, head of home underwriting at Zurich, said: With party season just around the corner, we would urge homeowners to check their home insurance policies.
And it's not just parties that can result in damage and a hefty home insurance claim this summer, Halifax recently stated that summer events inspire the nation to take up sport, often resulting in damage to their homes.
