American Express launches household insurance

Credit card provider American Express has announced that it is to offer a competitive home insurance product.

Features of the homeowner's insurance policy include new for old cover, family legal protection of up to £50,000, 24-hour home emergency assistance and a legal helpline.

Commenting on the new product, Joanne Field, marketing manager for American Express insurance services, said: We are delighted to be able to offer customers household cover in addition to motor and travel insurance .

With a large panel of insurers one phone call or visit to our web site can take the hard work out of buying household insurance – we do the shopping around instead of the customer and find them the best quote for their needs.

The credit card provider, which also offers a range of other insurance products, is also offering a five per cent discount to those who purchase their household insurance online.

Established in 1850 in New York, American Express now operates in 130 countries across the world and offers a range of financial services such as credit cards, investment funds and insurance .
