Halifax wins five stars for home insurance

Halifax has been awarded five stars for its home insurance policy for the fourth consecutive year.

The award, made by financial research company Defaqto, is based on a detailed assessment of a range of product features and benefits, aiming to reflect the features which are most relevant to consumers.

Customers of Halifax's home insurance policy have unlimited cover for building and contents and free legal expenses for the first year of cover.

Halifax has now been awarded three stars in all of its three main insurance areas, home insurance, travel insurance and pet insurance.

In total, eleven insurers received a five star rating for their home insurance products, while ten insurers received a five star rating for travel insurance for both single trip and multi-trip cover.

Defaqto evaluates and distributes a wide range of data to the financial services industry through various products and services.

The company claims that its Aequos database is regarded as the leading product research tool, containing information on mortgages, savings, personal loans, credit cards, life insurance, pensions, healthcare, investments including offshore and a range of insurance policies.
