London, Hull and Grimsby are the most expensive locations in which to find home insurance, a study has revealed.
However, Shropshire is the least costly place for home insurance - with a 391 per cent difference to the dearest in Britain, according to research from Moneysupermarket.com.
Additionally, the home insurance gap could widen in the future, the company has claimed.
The most expensive spot in the UK is Westminster, London, with premiums at £903 per year - 63 per cent dearer than the next most expensive area in Hull.
Richard Mason director of insurance at Moneysupermarket.com, stated that for homes deemed to be in high risk areas - whether from crime, subsidence or flooding - home insurance premiums will be comparatively high.
On the whole, the research shows that big cities, such as London, Liverpool, Manchester, Edinburgh and Leeds feature prominently as the most expensive areas in contrast to more rural areas such as Shropshire, Devon and Suffolk, he remarked.
A recent study from Endsleigh also found that Hull is the UK's highest spot for car theft which could have implications for car insurance costs.
