Following the tornado which damaged a number of homes in London, the Association of British Insurers has issued home insurance advice to those affected.
The body stated that damaged to homes and business premises will be covered by buildings insurance.
Additionally, the majority of home insurance policies will provide alternative accommodation for those with homes too badly damaged to be habitable, the body noted.
The tornado may also have had an effect on car insurance, as vehicles have been affected by the event.
All this damage will be covered by comprehensive car insurance, said the Association of British Insurers.
The tornado affected several homes in north-west London, with roofs pulled off properties and walls brought down.
One resident of Kensal Rise, John Huntley, 52, told the Daily Mirror: "People came out of their houses afterwards and wandered in a daze.
"One woman lost the entire back of her house and was crying her eyes out. She'd been in the house with her baby."
Those affected by the tornado will need to contact their home insurance provider and keep receipts for any emergency work, the Association of British Insurers noted.
