Homeowners are being urged to ensure they have adequate home insurance in place to protect them against Halloween horrors.
Lloyds TSB Insurance estimates that insurance claims for malicious damage to property could triple after All Hallows' Eve.
Last year, the home insurance provider saw a rise of 150 per cent in insurance claims after October 31st.
Among other home insurance claims, Lloyds TSB Insurance received insurance claims for a window shattered by a broomstick, (fake) blood that stained a carpet and wallpaper with egg yolk damage.
With trick-or-treating people out in force, a rise in insurance claims for malicious damage might be expected, says the home insurance provider's managing director, Phil Loney.
He said that the triple rise in claims shows that "while ghosts and ghouls may not be a threat, we should still do everything possible to protect our homes".
And even though "no amount of care" can completely protect a home against trick-or-treaters, Mr Loney believes it is important that people check their insurance policies to see if they are covered against "broomstick and pumpkin related" damages.
