Marks & Spencer Home Insurance provides cover for the building and contents of a person’s home. Homeowners are offered the choice of Premier or Standard cover policies, and can also choose to add additional extras to enhance their level of cover.
The main difference between the two types is that the Standard policy only gives accidental damage cover on certain specified items, whereas Premier cover insures accidental damage to a policyholder’s building and contents in addition to everything that is included with the Standard policy.
A policyholder’s contents are covered on a new for old basis, and there's no excess to pay unless they choose to, however subsidence is an exception with a £1,000 excess.
In addition, Marks & Spencer Home Insurance can also provide additional cover for Home Emergency Cover and for Legal Expenses.
Online applicants can save money on standard premiums for new policies.
Premier Cover
Marks & Spencer Premier Home & Contents policy protects homeowners against theft, loss, and accidental damage to the contents of their home and even visitor’s possessions. Policyholders can make one claim every four years without affecting their no-claims discount.
Premier Cover offers a wide level of protection against theft or damage to buildings including garages, sheds and swimming pools. Cover for blocked drains, storm and flood damage to fences and gates is also included. Alternative accommodation is paid for if necessary, together with property owners’ liability cover up to £2 million for a single incident.
Standard Cover
Homeowners that opt for Standard Cover are safeguarded against theft, loss or damage to the contents of their home. This includes accidental damage to TV, video, audio and computer equipment.
Cover for loss or damage to the building forming a policyholder’s home, including fixtures and fittings is provided, with limited accidental damage cover to ceramic hobs, glass and sanitary ware. Alternative accommodation is also paid for where necessary.
One contents claim can be made every four years without affecting a person’s no-claims discount.
